Scripture of the Week:
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
— Colossians 3:17 (NIV)
Devotional:
It’s Monday morning again. The calendar is packed, your inbox is overflowing, and meetings are lined up back-to-back. In the rush of it all, it’s easy to separate our work life from our spiritual life—as if God is for Sundays but Monday through Friday is all on us.
But Scripture teaches something much richer and more beautiful: Work as worship is not just an idea — it’s a calling.
In Colossians 3:17, Paul reminds us that whatever we do, we should do it in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father. That includes every email, every conversation, and every project. When we commit our daily work to God, we practice Work as Worship — honoring Him through our everyday tasks.
When you walk into your workplace today, remember: You’re not just clocking in. You are stepping onto a mission field. Your desk, your tools, your meetings — they are opportunities to worship God with your heart, your hands, and your attitude.
How to Practice Work as Worship:
✅ Shift Your Mindset:
Work as worship begins when you see your daily tasks through a spiritual lens. The work you do matters because how you do it reflects the God you serve. Mundane tasks become sacred when done with a heart of gratitude and excellence.
✅ Offer Your Best:
Serving with excellence — not for applause, but for God’s glory — is a key part of Work as Worship. Whether anyone notices or not, God sees. Excellence at work is a powerful act of devotion.
✅ Invite God into Your Workday:
Prayer isn’t just for Sunday mornings. Whisper prayers before meetings, ask for wisdom in decision-making, and thank God for victories big and small. Staying connected to Him throughout your day transforms your workplace into a place of worship.
✅ Serve Others in Love:
The heart of Work as Worship is love. A kind word to a stressed coworker, patience with a difficult client, or honesty when it’s tempting to cut corners — these small acts shine brightly in the workplace and point others to Christ.
A Story to Inspire You:
A friend of mine led a company where he began each day praying over his desk chair, asking God to guide every decision he would make.
He didn’t see his work merely as business; he saw it as Work as Worship. His integrity, compassion, and leadership soon became known throughout the company. And in God’s perfect timing, coworkers started asking him about the faith that shaped his life.
Your work, surrendered to God, becomes a testimony that invites others to see His goodness.
This Week’s Challenge:
Before you start your work each morning, pray:
“Lord, today I offer my work as worship. Help me serve with excellence, speak with grace, and glorify You in all I do.”
Walk into your workplace knowing that even the smallest act of faithfulness can become a powerful offering to God.
Reflection Verse for the Week:
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
— Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)
